2025 - 2028: VEGA 1/0534/25 The biopolitical turn to posthuman politics of life
2021 – 2024 VEGA 1/0020/21 Development of the concept of shame in ancient and contemporary moral philosophy with an emphasis on its ethical functions. FF UMB, Banská Bystrica, principal investigator doc. Mgr. Ulrich Wollner, PhD. My position in the project: researcher. In ancient times, the category of "shame" was one of the most important in practical philosophical discourse. In the twentieth century, this category, although not dominantly, became the subject of reflection in psychoanalysis, phenomenology, and existentialism. The project aims to examine the transformations of the forms and functions of the concept of shame in ancient and contemporary moral philosophy. We focus on the different meanings of the ancient Greek terms "aidós" and "aischyné," which can be translated as shame. We concentrate on the meanings that these concepts (and their Latin equivalents) acquired from Homer to Seneca. In contemporary moral-philosophical thinking dealing with the category of shame, we will follow two basic lines: 1) a return to its ancient origins; 2) examination from the perspective of its moral transformative potential. We consider the examination of the issue of transformations in the understanding of the meanings of the concept of shame and reflection on its moral consequences and associations to be beneficial, especially given the insufficient representation of such research in domestic philosophical discourse.
2018 – 2020 Ad Fontes Cynicorum Socraticorum – Sources and Interpretation of Socratic Cynism (VEGA 1/0864/18). Investigator. The subject of the research proposal is the historical and philosophical reflection of the Socratic school of thought of ancient cynics. The specificity of the project is the application of the classical „ad fontes“ principle, complemented by the addition of the existing source base in the Slovak language and by interpretations of the newly created source bases in the form of scientific editions of other figures (Crates, Hipparchia, etc.) and interpretative works. The relevance of the present research project is guaranteed on the one side by the scientific results of the previous research of the core of the scientific team (on Antisthenes and Diogenes), which we are continuously linked to, and on the other side by the fact that the cynicism was one of the most influential philosophical movements in the history of philosophy. Therefore, the project focuses on the history of cynic ideas and proves that there was a strong non-Platonic tradition inspiring historical as well as present philosophical thought.
2022 – 2025 VEGA 2/0163/22 Literature in bioethics and bioethics in literature. FF UCM, Trnava, principal investigator Mgr. Bogumiła Suwara, PhD. (SAV); doc. Mgr. Jana Tomašovičová, PhD. (representative of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic). (researcher). My position in the project: researcher. The project Literature in Bioethics and Bioethics in Literature is inspired by the concept of interdiscursive relations, authored by the leading French linguist D. Maingueneau (2004), and the concept of narrative bioethics (H. Dubiel 2011). The subject of research within the submitted project is the analysis of relationships between literary (media) and bioethical (philosophical) discourse. The aim of the project is to push the boundaries of the analysis of interdiscursive communication between literature (in the broader sense) and bioethics from the traditional analysis of the depiction of the doctor-patient relationship in literature towards the so-called humanistic turn in bioethics. From a methodological point of view, this means that literature and art create space for enriching the narrowly rationalist ethical discourse with humanistic and philosophical-psychological aspects, including a phenomenological and hermeneutic approach to applied ethics, especially bioethics.
2018 - 2021 APVV-17-0128 Comparison of linguistic strategies of right-wing populism (Germany - Austria - Czech Republic - Slovakia): lexicon - texts - discourses, principal investigator: Prof. Dr. Dr. rer. nat. Georg Schuppener, My role in the project: researcher. The project focuses on comparing the linguistic specifics and linguistic strategies of right-wing populists in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany. To this end, corpora with representative text material will be created in the initial phase of the project. Based on the collected material, typical lexicon will be identified in the next step. Based on the analysis of texts and characteristic discourses, the thematic and argumentative strategies of right-wing populist statements and speeches will then be examined in more detail. The research steps will first be carried out separately for each country under investigation, and the results will then be compared, which will allow for the specification of similarities and differences. These research steps will first be carried out separately for each of the countries under study, and the results will then be compared, which will make it possible to specify the similarities and differences between the linguistic strategies of right-wing populists in the four countries. Thanks to an interdisciplinary approach, the results of the analysis of linguistic specifics will be interpreted in a broader context of not only political and cultural interactions, but also psychosocial motives and relationships. From a pedagogical and didactic point of view, the research results will be evaluated in terms of their further usability and transferability to the field of education and training.
