KEGA-008UCM-4/22 – Podcasts as an Innovative Part of teaching General History of the 20th Century, ongoing project 2022 – 2024, principal researcher P. Vanek, research fellow T. Součková.
The main goal of the research team from the Department of Historical Sciences and Central European Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava is to extend the traditional full-time study of general history of the 20th century to the online space. The target groups are not only university students, but also teachers and students of selected secondary schools, or the professional and general public. In addition, the online environment greatly facilitates access to education for students with specific needs, students with an individual study plan or primary and secondary school teachers attending additional pedagogical studies. The output of the project is at least 15 podcasts, freely available on the YouTube platform or within popular podcast applications. The podcasts will be augmented and supplemented in content by a university textbook. It will be freely available on the website of the faculty and the department, as well as published in a classic book form. The research team also aims to establish a recording studio at the UCM Faculty of Arts using grant funds. The aforementioned studio will be used to implement the objectives of the project and will also be made available to members of the academic community of the UCM Faculty of Arts. Podcasts are an innovative and attractive didactic medium in the teaching of history, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The know-how of the project leader in the field of podcasting and in the implementation of e-learning in practice is the main prerequisite for the achievement of the project's objectives. The deputy head of the project has several years of experience in editorial work.
AAPVV-18-0196 – Nitra County Notitia by Matthias Bel (interpretation and application), project solved in 2023, principal researcher P. Chrastina, research fellow T. Součková.
The project, in which the departments of four universities in Nitra, Trnava and Zvolen together with the Institute of Archaeology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences participate, is to contribute to a more comprehensive research and interpretation of Matej Bel's work in terms of philological, historical, or historical-geographical, ethnological or archaeological research over the course of five years. The results of the interdisciplinary study of Bel's work can be effectively applied to the revitalisation of regional identities on the example of historical landscapes, historical landscape structures and ethno-cultural phenomena by applying a cultural itinerary that would bring closer the historical, natural and social phenomena of the territory on the basis of the knowledge gained from the interpretation of Bel's work. The essence and the aim of the project is the Slovak translation of the Latin original of the Knowledge of the Nitrian County (lat. COMITATUS NITRIENSIS) and its study from the point of view of history/historical geography, archaeology, ethnology and museology.

KEGA 005UCM/4-2019 – Natural conditions of the Nitra County in 18th Century from the perspective of Matthias Bel (university textbook), project solved in 2021, principal researcher P. Chrastina, research fellow T. Součková.
Matthias Bel in his work Notitia Hungariae Novae historico-geographica (henceforth referred to as Notitia) offered a contemporary view on particular facts about the Hungarian counties. Slovak researchers in the field of humanities, historians and historical geographers have been dealing with Bel's life and work from different perspectives. The focus of their research consisted of probes in selected works of the author. The literature research concerning our topic has shown that Notitia of any of the counties (as a whole or their parts) have not yet been more thoroughly studied and scientifically interpreted from the point of view of historical and historical-geographical research including the application of concrete outcomes in the education proces of our universities. The essence and aim of the project is a Slovak translation of the Latin text of the chapter De natura et opportunitatibus Comitaus Nitriensis (Oddiel o prírode in Slovak; Chapter about nature in English) from the Notitia of the Nitra County and its interpretation in terms of historical geography. The project output will be represented by a university textbook called „Nature, landscape and men of the Nitra County in the first half of the 18th century from the perspective of Matthias Bel“. The textbook will be used in teaching historical geography, enviromental history, regional history or classical languages – Latin (alternatively also older Slovak literature or geography etc.).
